For this design we wanted to create a mid-century-modern / Japanese futon style bed that OOOOZED minimalism. We used locally sourced Elm-wood from the gardens of Amsterdam West. The design was custom made for a queen-sized mattress with a little  oversize so the bed would be visible around the mattress. The initial design was more based on Japanese influences but eventually we decided on a more modernist approach. The finish is a natural colored oil.
